It is hard to believe that another winter will soon be over and another season of golf begins.  Let’s hope that this coming summer is a little drier and we get more roll with our golf balls.
I have a few friendly reminders to start off the year:

Please post all scores and in order to play in tournaments you need a minimum of 5 eighteen scores within the last two years. David Armitage has made and put up a score card box, outside the Starters Shack, where you can put your completed cards after a round of golf when the Shack is closed, so please drop off your cards and the starters will enter your scores in the book.

  • After each tournament, the starters will enter your scores in the computer, so please DO NOT put your scores in the books after a tournament.
  • The course is closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings for Juniors, Ladies and Men’s programs. The starters will let you know what time you can start your game and a reminder that ladies and juniors sometimes start on the eighth hole.
  •  I am updating our Dunany Dress Code to reflect the current fashion in golf wear. This will be posted at the Starters Shack
  • Please remember to register with the Starters before going to the first tee.

PLEASE NOTE all golf matches are to be played by the posted dates (allowing for a 3 day grace period).  If not played as above, a flip of a coin will determine the winner.
In order to encourage and promote DCC as a family club we are allowing any junior golfer, who is taking lessons or is in the junior program to come out and watch the club championships under adult supervision.

The Men’s Club Championship will return to the old format of two week-ends, August 22nd, 23rd and 29th, with the Championship Dinner on August 29th.

I am looking forward to working with our three new starters this year, Erica Azaria, Spencer Sutherland and Jamie Farnsworth.  Please introduce yourself to them.

I would like to extend a special thank you to Barbara Armstrong for her hard work as Ladies Captain, to my assistant Chris Wynn for his help last year, to Bill Osterman for organizing the Men’s day on Thursdays, Francois Cote for handling the Senior Men’s Intersectionals and Manuel Cote for the Men’s Intersectionals.

Also, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came out to play in all the tournaments last year and invite everyone to participate in some or all of our scheduled tournaments. The opening tournament is a scramble on June 20th at 10:00am so come out and loosen up with a fun day.

Please call me if you have any questions or email me at mjwynn@sympatico.ca.
