Sing with Glee Pub Night a 'Noteworthy'Event!

We were delighted to entertain the audience with a variety of songs including some of our new repertoire, 'Africa’, ‘Java Jive’ and ‘Hello Goodbye’! Other smaller groups, such as Glen Cameron and Leanne Broomfield had fun entertaining everyone with some wonderfully eclectic music such as ‘Tiny Bubbles’ and Maryse Percy, France Jobin and Margo sang a beautiful version of ‘Super Trouper’. I had a chance to take off my 'Directing’ cap and sang a few songs with Adele Kat, one of which was, 'Straighten Up and Fly Right’.
Led by different members of Glee, the audience participated enthusiastically in the sing along portions throughout the evening in classics ranging from ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’, to rousing pub songs like ‘Les Chevaliers de la Table Ronde' and ‘The Wild Rover’ and ‘Farewell to Nova Scotia’. The evening ended with a glorious attempt at 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight’!
The evening would not have been a success without the help of many: A big thank you to Adele on guitar whose fingers were probably ready to fall off by the end of the night. We couldn't have even thought of doing this without you! And a thank you to the other accompanists who played their part: Glen, and Peg on guitar, Mary on piano and Leanne on ukulele. The variety of accompaniment added to the texture of the sound throughout the evening.
Thank you all for your performances and for those who stepped up to lead the sing-alongs: Adele, Glen and Leanne, Jim and Lynn, Peter, Michel, Maurice, France, Maryse and Chantal, John and Susan and Kathleen. THANK YOU to Lois and Jim Finch for organizing the volunteers, Operating Front of House (merci Jacques), bartenders Tom, Robert, James, Annabelle, Jane, and Richard, a BIG THANK YOU to Carol Wilson, along with her team: Judy, Joan and her granddaughter Heather for organizing the kitchen and GLEE CLUB for all bringing an abundant, amazing array of food! If I missed anyone - I apologize!
The wonderful thing about ‘Sing with Glee Night’ – we are all in it together - a wonderful sense of community!
Yours in harmony,
-Cathy Leslie, Dunany Glee Club Director

This past week, some of our Juniors competed in Golf Quebec and Golf Canada events at the Lachute Golf Club, Le Blainvillier and Whitlock Golf and Country Club. Playing other courses with a variety of golfers helps players develop. Our Juniors got to see some of the incredible talent of young Quebec golfers. Very motivating!

Wishing all our juniors and families a good back-to-school start-up. Bon courage pour la rentrée scolaire 2019-2020! Transitions can be tough, staying in touch with your summer buddies can help!
I want to highlight a volunteer that makes a quiet but enormous contribution to summer fun at DCC. Randy Swedburg comes from Lake Barron every Tuesday night to run the sports night activities. The kids adore Randy and his games and oh, the freezies too! At the peak this summer there were nearly 50 kids in attendance. Thank you so much, Randy!

Peter and Bonnie Curtin hosted a wonderful fundraising evening for Clear Lake and Lake Louisa residents on Sunday night. Everyone brought a bottle of wine and $735 was raised in the raffle! The winner of 23 great bottles of wine was Pierrette Gloven. George Stein donated a wine cooler and the lucky winner was François Coté. We even had the presence of some honourable Curran lake guests! Great speeches from our President, Michael Fehr, our House Director, Peter Parsons and our host, Peter Curtain, who told us why Dunany means so much to him and Bonnie.
